UNIPORT student slumps, dies at home after exams-Tragedy struck at the University of Port Harcourt after the death of a student known as Gloria Adeleye, who reportedly fell and died a few days after completing her first exam before leaving. Travel to join his family in the Rivers State capital.
We learned that Gloria, who is from the Department of Animal Science, finished her exams on Thursday, April 1, 2021, and left school to go to her family home, but a few days later, the news of her death was thrown n the camp, sending a chill behind his friends and all departments.
The 500-year-old student was reported home at home on Tuesday, April 6, and was taken to hospital, where he died. The cause of death is still unknown.
When contacted, the university’s public relations officer, Sammy Kpenu, expressed regret over the development, but said it was wrong for anyone to say that Gloria had died on campus.
“It is a lie,” he explained. The sister who sent a letter of death to the school apologized to the department, as it had caused a lot of problems.
“The (deceased) sister left school almost a week ago at her family home. Her test was completed on April 1 and she joined her family.
“So, from what we heard, she just slumped and by the time she was rushed to hospital, she was pronounced dead. So, it wasn’t anything that had to do with Uniport community.”
Meanwhile, the Head of Department, Animal Science and the department’s students association in a statement obtained by our correspondent said they had tried to reach the deceased’s father, but that he was unwilling to speak.
“The department tried reaching the father yesterday, but he was not willing to communicate with anyone. However, the department is planning a condolence visit once a date is agreed with the father,” the statement read in part.
