Buhari congratulates new Olu of Warri, mourns departed monarch -The Chief of Staff, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), On Tuesday, thanked the Warri Chief of Staff, Utieyinoritsetsola Emiko, praying for a peaceful government.
He also spoke to the Itsekiri people about the death of their king, Ogiame Ikenwoli, which was announced yesterday.
The president’s message was contained in a statement issued by his special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, which read,
Adesina said the president was calling for a settlement after the throne, saying that if there were any issues, such issues should be resolved amicably.
The message read, “President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a message of thanks to the city of Itsekiri for the announcement of the new presidency of Warri, as announced by the Warri government.
“The governor also expressed his displeasure to the Itekiris on the way to the capital, Chief Ogiame Ikenwoli, who immediately expressed his displeasure.
“President Buhari is praying that the newly elected President, Prince Utieyinoritsetsola Emiko, will have a peaceful government, which reflects the tremendous development of Itsekiri land.
“It takes a sense of love and cooperation when the tournament is over for the throne, noting that if there is any dispute, this kind of issue should be resolved through due process.”
“As the city of Itsekiri mourns the death of their president for three months, President Buhari prays for God’s comfort, and ascends the glorious ascent of the incoming king.”
